Google maps, Google Docs & Google Book Search

I've had a bit of a play with the various items in Google Docs, but I can't see myself having a lot of use for them. Having said that, I can see that they could be useful if you needed to do something when you were away from home, eg travelling, but I wouldn't use it by choice when I had the full programs available as they are quite basic.

Google Books has kept me enthralled for a couple of hours, although I'm not sure that I'd use it all that much. It's quite fascinating dipping into some of the very old books & getting an idea of the language used & how much it has changed. I could possibly be tempted at times to use it to sample a book to see whether I really want to read it.

Flickr Group link

I've joined the Artistic Photography group, which I thought could be accessed from my Flickr account page - I was wrong! At this stage, the images in it are also in my general page. Once you get to the Group page, click on "(number) Members" just below Group heading and then look for Rinny-Kaye.

MySpace and Facebook

I've spent the last couple of days looking at MySpace and Facebook, but I can't say that I've seen anything that particularly makes me want to get really involved. It seems to me that what I've done so far on my blog and the various library subscriptions there is simply being duplicated on these sites. The only thing that has been interesting has been looking at my nieces & nephews & I haven't really been tempted even then to comment on their 'walls'. The generation gap was rather obvious!

Digg and Library subsciption

I don't know whether I'm just showing my age, but I've had a look at digg.com & quite frankly, I wouldn't waste my time going back! It's on my Google Reader, but it probably won't stay there for long. I've also added an Australian Libraries group that does seem to have a lot of interesting articles - I can see myself browsing through that quite regularly.

Google Reader

My Google Reader page has a Photography Group subscription

Feed links

I'm attempting to link some blogs I've subscribed to - although I'm not totally sure of exactly what I'm doing! Homesite is another blog that I've subscribed to.

LibraryThing

I've been having a lovely time investigating LibraryThing. I can see my sisters & I, as well as a number of friends, getting a great borrowing system going with this.

Week 4 - Image Generator

This is fun - although I'm not sure how much use I'd really get out of it. Could be fun for the grandkids when they're a little older!

Flickr post

I have just posted my first 3 photos into Flickr - images taken on a trip to Broken Hill in 2004. I'm still trying to work out how to get them into a patricular group.

Photo post

I have just succeeded in posting a photo from my computer - hopefully this whole process gets quicker with practise!

Weeks 2 & 3

After a lot of messing about figuring out exactly what is required (not necessarily what I thought from prior experience!) I have finally got the hang of this blogging thing!! I have set up my own, added a comment to someone else's blog and will look into flickr when I have my next session.
